Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been a reporter for more than 45 years, focusing on human suffering in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry has been a reporter in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her role as a reporter on the Today program, which was a morning news program aired through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry is known for reporting human-rights crises as well as natural disasters particularly in nations which have suffered the effects of war. Curry's father was a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. She met her mother while stationed with her father in Japan after World War II. Because of her father's military service, her family has moved quite a bit. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. In 1978, she graduated at in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her exposure to diverse cultures and situations during her growing up years probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to global issues. Curry moved around a lot with her partner, and did not attend a school for longer than two years. She attended schools located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Her final graduation was in Ashland the high school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she began her career in broadcasting. She was the first female news reporter for the station when she was 22. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting at KGW which is an affiliate of NBC in Portland. Then she returned to Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. In her time with the channel she received two Emmy Awards.
